Students learn to apply reading skills through discussion and exercises. The course emphasizes reading excerpts from intermediate texts, analyzing information from tables and graphs, and making inferences. Additional practice in note-taking, summarizing, inferring the meaning of vocabulary from context, and using the dictionary is provided. Students read passages with a variety of topics and purposes, including reading for pleasure. Prerequisite(s): Admission to International Program.
