    Continues the study of world cinema from World War II until the present. Study of the continuing influence of American cinema, as well as the post-l945 national cinema movements exemplified by Neo-Realism and the French New Wave films. Prerequisite: pre-telecommunications core courses with C ( 2.0) or better grades in each, and a 2.5 grade-point average for these courses; or permission of the instructor. Open only to telecommunications majors and minors and film minors.

    Study of the general types and forms of film expressions, each identified with a specific tradition. Film genres include westerns, screwball comedies, gangster films, musicals, etc. Prerequisite: pre-telecommunications core courses with C ( 2.0) or better grades in each, and a 2.5 grade-point average for these courses; or permission of the instructor. Open only to telecommunications majors and minors and film minors.
  • 1.00 - 3.00 Credits

    Practical experience and classroom critique of news gathering, production, and presentation. Weekly meeting to develop story ideas and assignments and evaluate work. Prerequisite: pre-telecommunications core courses with C ( 2.0) or better grades in each, and a 2.5 grade-point average for these courses; NEWS 202. A total of 3 hours of credit may be earned. Open only to approved telecommunications majors and minors.
  • 3.00 Credits

    Examines the practical, social, and economic relationships between two major areas of American popular culture—the electronic media and sports. Combines aspects of announcing, production, sales and marketing, history, and policy. Prerequisite: pre-telecommunications core courses with C ( 2.0) or better grades in each, a 2.5 grade-point average for these courses; or permission of the instructor. Open only to approved telecommunications majors and minors and sports studies minors.

    Examines the relationship between the government and the electronic media in the United States. History and philosophy of the regulatory process and its effects on traditional and emerging media. Prerequisite: TCOM 101, junior standing. Not open to students who have credit in JOURN 325. Open only to approved telecommunications majors and minors.
  • 1.00 - 3.00 Credits

    Special service directed by a faculty member or an approved representative of an outside agency directly related to the subject. Term project is a written report. A written proposal for a project in telecommunications must be submitted to the department four weeks before the term of study. TCOM majors and minors cannot exceed a total of 15 hours of combined credit in internship, practicum, and independent study. Prerequisite: pre-telecommunications core courses with C ( 2.0) or better grades in each, a 2.5 grade-point average for these courses. A total of 6 hours of credit may be earned, but no more than 3 in any one semester or term. Open only to approved telecommunications majors and minors.
  • 1.00 - 6.00 Credits

    Assists in gaining practical, on-the-job experience with an approved agency related to the business. Must make written application to department and meet criteria before enrollment. TCOM majors and minors cannot exceed a total of 15 hours of combined credit in internship, practicum, and independent study. Prerequisite: pre-telecommunications core courses with C ( 2.0) or better grades in each, a 2.5 grade-point average for these courses. A total of 6 hours of credit may be earned. Open only to approved telecommunications majors and minors with 125 or fewer total hours toward graduation.
  • 3.00 Credits

    Exploration of selected issues in telecommunications with emphasis on individualized study and reporting. Prerequisite: permission of the instructor. Open only to honors program students.
  • 1.00 - 3.00 Credits

    Practical experience related to telecommunications. Requires submission of completed application and detailed proposal to faculty member supervising proposal. TCOM majors and minors cannot exceed a total of 15 hours of combined credit in internship, practicum and independent study. Prerequisite: pre-telecommunications core courses with C ( 2.0) or better grades in each, and a 2.5 grade-point average for these courses. A total of 3 hours of credit may be earned. Open only to approved telecommunications majors and minors.
  • 3.00 Credits

    Examines topics and decisions involved in maintaining media companies as viable businesses. Provides practical experience with day-to-day media business issues. Prerequisite: pre-telecommunications core courses with C ( 2.0) or better grades in each, and a 2.5 grade-point average for these courses. Open only to approved telecommunications majors or minors.
