Reading and discussion of selected modern Japanese literary texts concentrating on selections from poetry, short stories, essays and novels such as Snow Country by Kawabata and Golden Temple by Mishima. Readings in English translation and Japanese. Prerequisite: JAPAN 202 or its equivalent or permission of the instructor.
