Third of three methods courses in the social work practice sequence using a generalist model focuses on knowledge, values and skills requisite for social work practice with various client systems. Prerequisite: upper-division standing or permission of instructor. Introduction to the field of child abuse and neglect. Examines the history of the field, different forms of abuse and neglect, causative factors, abuse and neglect dynamics, treatment approaches, the social services system, and prevention strategies.
