Specific topics include the role of issue definition and agenda-setting in policy formation, the causes and politics of inequality, the difficulties in measuring inequality, and institutional dynamics that exacerbate or ameliorate inequality. Examines the reasons for the growth of administration regulation, regulatory agencies and processes, the nature of their formal, legal and informal powers, organization and procedures, and of their relationships with legislature, chief executives, courts, and interest groups, including consumer interests. Builds on the assumption that humans are narrowly self-interested and proceeds to examine whether this assumption can illuminate and explain various political outcomes, both in the abstract and in the particular context of American political institutions.
