AMGT 4013: Overview of Arts Management and Administration

Prerequisite: junior standing or permission of instructor. Presents an overview and historical perspective of the diverse opportunities in arts management and administration. Readings will be supplemented by visiting speakers representing various arts organizations or disciplines that will present lectures, lead discussions and/or conduct workshops presenting a more comprehensive understanding of the diversity of the field of arts management/arts administration. The specific guests/lectures, visits and dates will vary according to availability. Students will be required to read various articles, visit selected local arts organizations, research and review the history of one of the selected organizations, and present a comparative analysis of the various organizations surveyed. No student may earn credit for both 4013 and 5013. (Irreg.)
