Classification systems, nomenclatures, and reimbursement systems will be covered with special emphasis on Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs), and the Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) system. Medicare requirements and their impact on health care delivery systems will also be discussed

In particular, the topics of data quality management, information systems development, healthcare informatics, knowledge management, and data and information security/confidentiality will be presented. Students will also effectively use a database management system.
