4 cr hrs Prerequisite(s): Public Relations (ORGC/PBRL 325), Media Research and Writing (PBRL 350), Media and Crisis Communication (ORGC/PBRL 425), Public Relations and Promotional Strategy (ORGC/PBRL 445), and Rhetoric and Social Influence (PBRL 450) This course is the culmination of students' coursework in the public relations field Students will design and develop a public relations campaign for either a live or simulated client Strategic planning, design, communication, and management of a public relations campaign will be the focus of this practice-oriented course

4 cr hrs Prerequisite(s): None This course is a practical approach to the methods researchers use to collect, verify, analyze and interpret data in a variety of business settings Emphasis is placed on using appropriate research concepts and procedures to answer research questions The student will examine the advantages and disadvantages of different research designs (e g , questionnaires, observations, experiments); create a survey instrument; collect, summarize and interpret original data from a sample population; and create a final research report

4 cr hrs Prerequisite(s): College Writing (COMM 120) and Learning Strategies (PF 321) This course provides students with a coherent sense of the past and present human societies drawn from five cultural areas: Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and South America It also reviews the diversity of traditions that have formed the world and continue to interact in it today Through the synthesis of connections, influences and parallels among cultures, students will gain an understanding of how to communicate in a culturally diverse world

4 cr hrs Prerequisite(s): Junior standing and Management Theory and Practices (BSAD 312) This course addresses a contemporary theme relevant to Public Safety Management The theme will change each academic year and will be determined by consultation with students, safety agency leaders and the Public Safety Management Advisory Board Because of the various types of safety forces represented in the program, the topics selected will address more global public safety issues or multi-disciplinary issues
