On demand. In-depth analysis of the poetry and prose of early modern England, with special attention to English Petrarchanism, Spenserian epic, metaphysical poetry, the Cavalier tradition, and the controversial political and religious tracts of the period. Prerequisite: ENG 201.

Creative writing majors taking their second 400-level workshop class must complete a thesis and public reading. Prerequisite: B or better in ENG 312 or ENG 313 or instructor permission.
