Spring. Economic analysis will be applied to the study of the location and growth of cities, the spatial structure of cities, and the relationship between cities and their surrounding areas. The problems that regions face as they develop, including urban blight, suburban sprawl, tax competition, and houseing problems will be studied. Tools from microeconomics and econometrics will be used to analyze these relationships and problems and to evaluation proposed policy initiatives. Required for the M.A. in Economics program. Prerequisites: ECON 302 or equivalent and ECON 502 or equivalent.
