This course introduces students to the major figures and features of the twentieth-century American prosperity gospel. It traces its late 19th century metaphysical roots through black and white Pentecostalism to post-war revivals where it took shape. We consider its effect on megachurches, televangelism, and uplift traditions as it spread across racial and economic divides.
