This courses focuses on using digital-imaging techniques in Adobe Photoshop to enhance and replace traditional photographic methods with the digital darkroom. Topics include image correction and enhancement, removing color casts, analog conversion to digital, the digital camera, color management and the digital workflow, proofing, printing and other forms of output, image compositing, creating grayscale images from digital files, file management, and using the digital darkroom for creative and special effects. Students create individual projects that can be used in a portfolio. Prerequisite: MART 180L. Offered: Fall and Spring.

This advanced class explores the Web capabilities of Adobe's image editing application, Photoshop. Students use Photoshop to optimize images, create image maps, automate processes, and create animations. Offered: Occasionally.

Students work on advanced individual projects using the skills and concepts they learned in intermediate-level classes. Emphasis is placed on group interaction and peer critiques, as well as producing creative and expressive art. Students develop portfolio pieces for presentation and exhibition at the end of class. May be taken twice for degree or certificate credit. Prerequisite: MART 280L or MART 281L. Offered: Fall and Spring.

This workshop format course is designed for artists and photographers wanting to produce archival, exhibition-quality large-format, ink jet prints. Students will explore monitor calibration, media profiling, large format file creation, and the aesthetics of the large format print. Students acquire a practical knowledge of image management from input/creation to archival output, as well as producing their own fine art prints. May be taken twice for degree or certificate credit. Prerequisite: MART 180L. Offered: Occasionally.

This cross-discipline class prepares the student to begin or further a professional creative career. This class includes a critique format of student work as well as covering job search techniques, resume creation, portfolio development, presentation skills, business and legal practices, grant and proposal writing, marketing basics and motivational skills. This course provides students with an opportunity to enlarge and complete their learning experience by taking an unpaid position in a real working environment. This course introduces students to typical clerical, office and business skills in the office. Students learn telephone skills, liaison skills, appointment scheduling, filing, organizing patient records, reception duties, effective communication with patients and staff and how to keep an inventory of supplies. An introduction to bookkeeping and utilizing and maintaining computer software is also included in this course. Permission required. Offered: Fall.
