In this course students will be introduced to the proper procedures for shipping and receiving radioacti ve material. Department of Energy and Department of Transportati on guidelines will be taught. Processes related to radiological incidents and emergencies, personnel decontaminati on, and radiological considerati ons for fi rst aid will also be covered. Training in instrumentati on used in monitoring radioacti vity is an important component of the course. This is a three credit hour course. Prerequisites: RW 113 or consent of instructor.

This is a fi ve-week course that uti lizes a computerized keyboarding program, which presents a few new keys in each lesson. This is a one credit hour course.

This is an introductory keyboarding course that uti lizes a popular word processing soft ware. The course is designed to help the student learn the alphabeti c and numeric keys; to develop proper keyboarding techniques; to build basic speed and accuracy skills, and to provide practi ce in applying those basic skills to the formatti ng of lett ers, tables, reports, memorandums, and many other kinds of personal, and business documents. This course may be used as a refresher course. This course is taught through lecture, demonstrati on, individualized instructi on, and hands-on acti viti es. The students are allowed to progress at diff erent rates; however, there are designated lessons and tests to complete each week. This is a three credit hour course.

This course includes training and practi ce on both the computer 10-keypad and an electronic 10-key calculator. Emphasis is on 10-key touch control and business related calculati ons. This is a three credit hour course.

This course provides a review of the fundamental arithmeti c skills needed in the business world, with parti cular emphasis on decimals, percentages, interest, discounts, commissions, tax rates, insurance, inventories, and depreciati on. This is a three credit hour course.

This course presents concentrated training needed to enter the legal fi eld as a legal secretary and provides informati on necessary to pass the NALS certi fi cati on test. It is the fi rst of two capstone courses for the legal secretary. This is a three credit hour course.

It promotes the further development of basic keyboarding skills and emphasizes the producti on of a wide range of typical business correspondence, tables, reports, and forms. Emphasis is also placed on improving typing speed and accuracy. This is a three credit hour course. Prerequisites: SC 113 or equivalent

This course introduces basic accounti ng records relati ng to both merchandising and personal service enterprises. Topics include procedures for handling purchases, sales, cash payments, cash receipts, payroll, pett y cash, and the preparati on of fi nancial statements. Basic computerized accounti ng procedures are also introduced. This course is not a substi tute for AC 114 - Principles of Accounti ng and may not transfer for accounti ng majors. This is a three credit hour course.
