Through varied media, props, and sti ll life arrangements, the student will explore the elements of line, shape, texture, value, and space. Major areas of focus include a detailed study in linear perspecti ve, basic rendering techniques, and skills formati on including perceptual and aestheti c development. This course is open as a general educati on course to all college students who wish to draw. This course is repeatable, but may only count one ti me for degree requirements. This is a three credit hour course.

This course is a conti nuati on of AR 113A with a focus on media, technique, gesturing, and compositi onal acti vity. Students will conti nue to explore and develop the expressive and conceptual aspects of drawing. This is a three credit hour course. Prerequisite: AR 113A.

This course is designed as an introductory course in Computer Graphics including basic computer graphic concepts, equipment confi gurati ons, disk initi alizati on and formatti ng, design and layout, and actual hands-on experience producing a variety of drawings and graphic assignments. The use of various computers and computer soft ware will be covered using keyboard, mouse, and digiti zer menu features. The use of digital input devices (scanning) and output devices (printers) will also be covered in this course. This is a three credit hour course.

It includes advanced techniques of airbrushing, cutti ng stencils, creati ng patt erns, making personalized license plates, and fabricati ng mail box designs. Students will also learn how to mix paints, create bathroom seat moti fs, and personalize motorcycle tanks. This is a three credit hour course. Prerequisite: AR 113G

Emphasis is upon two-dimensional design acti vity and compositi onal arrangement using the elements and principles of design. This course is an introductory course in painti ng focusing on a solid foundati on in color theory, mixing and applicati on of pigment and mediums, canvas preparati on, basic painti ng skills, and aestheti c sensibiliti es. This course is open as a general educati on course to all college students who wish to paint in oils or acrylics. It will include regular outside assignments. This course is repeatable, but may only count one ti me for degree requirements. This is a three credit hour course. Prerequisite: AR 113A

This course is an introducti on to the medium of clay as a material. Instructi on in various hand forming techniques and wheel throwing will be provided. Emphasis will be on the aestheti cs of sculptural statements in clay and the importance of the uti litarian aspects of clay. Students will be exposed to the numerous fi ring techniques possible in the ceramic discipline. This course is repeatable, but may only count one ti me for degree requirements. This is a three credit hour course.
