Impact of parasitism on societies considered in addition to the clinical consequences for infected individuals. Means of transmission, diagnosis, and treatment considered in respect to recent technological advances in production of monoclonal antibodies and genetic engineering. Nature and biological significance of parasitism are viewed in terms of prospects for control.
