Seminar course designed to introduce the student to advanced statistical analysis and data management techniques, which will be further emphasized in a graduate-level setting.The course begins with a brief review of basic statistics and SPSS computing procedures. Topics then include non-parametric statistical procedures, qualitative data analysis, partial correlation, analysis of covariance,multivariate analysis of variance,multivariate analysis of covariance,multiple linear regress, factor analysis, discriminate analysis, cluster analysis, path analysis, logit modeling and trend analysis. Data management issues concern determining the appropriate statistical analysis to use for a given data set, interpretation and evaluation of published research and discussion of issues related to missing, outlying and improperly coded data. Prerequisite: PSY 211 and permission of instructor.
