This course focuses on self-development guided by knowledge of self and group processes. Experiential learning activities are designed to challenge students current beliefs, knowledge and skills. This semester takes the approach of placing students in a wide variety of group exercises designed to emphasize various leadership competencies and insights. The instructor, acting as facilitator, helps guide student processing of the events to derive the leadership, group dynamics and problem solving lessons that the exercises offer. Provides the student with no prior military or cadet experience the ability to quickly learn essential cadet knowledge and skills necessary for successful performance of cadet tasks. Following an introduction to the principles of physical fitness and healthy lifestyles lessons will cover: the Leader Development Program, how to plan and conduct individual and small unit training, basic tactical principles, reasoning skills and the military specific application of these skills in the form of the Army's troop leading procedures.
