This course uses the curriculum developed by CISCO Systems, Inc. to provide the student with an introduction to basic networking technology with emphasis on the physical media used to make network connections, and the OSI Network Model.

Students will learn the XML data technology to support web development, application development, and database technology. This course covers XML syntax to create valid, well-formed documents and shows how to work with namespaces, schemas, and style sheets. Students will also learn how to use XML as a data source.

This course uses the curriculum developed by CISCO Systems, Inc. to provide the student with hands-on knowledge of router configuration, and the basic router and routed protocols. Course methodology makes extensive use of hands-on lab assignments.

This course provides a thorough practical coverage of the techniques used to build a warehouse including requirements definitions, extract-transformation-loads of data, query applications and executive information systems. Additionally, data mining algorithms and techniques that identify expected and unexpected trends in data stored in a warehouse will be covered. Upon completion students will be able to design, implement, and use a data warehouse and use data mining tools to analyze and identify patterns in data.

This course is an introduction to the use of electronic mail creation, exchange, and design, including the use of attachments, and the use of calendar programs. Using the current version of MS Outlook, the student will gain hands- on experience at using address lists, developing and managing contacts, setting appointments (including recurring events), and sending attachments from various applications (including graphic files) via email.

This course introduces MS Publisher as a tool to help small business uers create and distribute professional business communication and marketing materials. Publisher 2003 delivers a comprehensive solution for small business users to create marketing materials for print, Web, and e-mail messages. Publisher 2003 features new wizards, such as those for creating marketing e-mail and Web sites, more new Master Design Sets (collections of business publications templates), enhanced formatting tools, and other new and improved features.

This course introduces a current windows based operating system (O/S) as it relates to computer applications. Emphasis is placed on hands-on experience with utility programs for file and disk processing.

This course builds on the material mastered in CIT 166 to bring the student to qualify at the Expert Level on the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification exam. Course material includes modifying Excel default settings, customizing toolbars and menus, defining and modifying workbook properties, importing data into Excel, exporting data from Excel, formatting and resizing graphics, structur- ing workbooks using XML, manage scenarios, and perform data analysis using automated tools (analysis ToolPak, What-If Analysis, Solver Add-In).
