This course is a transition course designed for LPN's who have been accepted into the transition track component. The focus of this course includes the role of the AD nurse in the health care delivery system, complex theory and practice related to the professional discipline of registered nursing. The students will utilize the nursing process in caring for clients in assigned health care facilities. Upon successful completion of this course, the LPN progresses to the second year of the Associate Degree Nursing program.

This course is an 8-week part of term elective course designed to facilitate the analysis of assessment data, selection of appropriate nursing diagnoses and patient-centered outcomes, and the development of a patient-centered nursing plan of care.

This course focus is the clinical application of the nursing process in the care of the diverse individuals experiencing alterations across the lifespan. The NLN Core Competencies of Professional Behavior, Communication, Assessment, Caring Interventions, Teaching and Learning are integrated into the practicum experience. This experience is designed to correlate the theory content of NUR 104 and NUR 107.

The NLN Core Competencies of Professional Behavior, Communication, Assessment, Caring and Teaching and Learning are integrated into the topical content of musculoskeletal and mobility, neurological, visual and auditory and endocrine concepts.

This course practicum focus is the clinical application of the nursing process in the care of diverse individuals/ families experiencing alterations across the lifespan. The NLN Core Competencies of Professional Behavior, Communications, Assessment, Clinical Decision Making, Caring Interventions, Teaching and Learning are integrated into the practicum experience. The experience is designed to correlate the theory content of NUR 154 and NUR 157.

The NLN Core Competencies of Professional Behavior, Communication, Assessment, Caring and Teaching and Learning are integrated into the topical content of Surgical process, Acid-base Balance, GI Alterations, Biliary/Hepatic Alterations, Neoplastic Disease and Hematological Alternations.

The NLN Core Competencies of professional behavior, communication, assessment, clinical decision making, caring interventions, teaching and learning, collaboration, and managing care are integrated in to the topical content of respiratory, cardiovascular and urinary function.

This course practicum will focus on the clinical application of the nursing process in the care of diverse individuals/ families/communities experiencing alterations across the lifespan. The NLN core Competencies of Professional Behavior, Communication, Assessment, Clinical Decision Making, Caring Interventions, Managing Care, Teaching and Learning are integrated into the practicum experience. This course is a 12-hour per week medical surgical, psychiatric and communication clinical practicum designed to correlate the theory content of NUR 204, NUR 262 and NUR 220. Students utilize the nursing process in caring for clients in assigned health care facilities under the direct supervision of West Virginia Northern Nursing Faculty. Twelve-hour clinical requirement may be scheduled as one-12 hour day or two 6-hour days as clinical availability requires.
