Students continue to apply the fundamental processes learned into procedures such as specimen collection, patient education, phlebotomy skills, and other diagnostic testing as permitted with the scope of practice of the clinical medical assistant. Students are trained in basic patient care including performing a variety of specimen collection procedures and performing diagnostic testing, such as electrocardiography and respiratory testing.
