Students will develop animations that are optimized for the realworld web environment using vector graphics. Skills to be learned are drawing techniques, shape and motion-tweening using symbols and libraries, animation techniques, import movies, add sound and basic interactivity, and use tell targeting and smart clips.

Students will develop interactions that are optimized for the realworld web environment using a vector graphics environment and programming language, JavaScript. Students will work with various projects including catalogues, forms, educational and business applications for the web.

Internships focusing on computer graphics and design, web design, video editing, or multimedia design will be arranged with internal and external customers. Internal customers would include Ridgewater College departments with a need for an intern.

Students learn the design of web and multimedia interface elements using Photoshop. The techniques include creation of textures, backgrounds, buttons, controlling the palette of an image, and special effects. Prerequisite: MMDT 1051

This course is designed to give students the advanced skills they need to design a web site. Students are instructed in how to effectively use a HTML/Web site authoring tool. Topics such as the use of HTML coding, browser differences, page layout, tables, graphics, image mapping, linking, and using Flash objects are covered. Advanced topics covered include dynamically created pages using data obtained from a database. Students will manage their projects on an actual web server. This course is based on the use of textbook study and hands-on structured labs assigned by the instructor. Prerequisites: MMDT 1021, MMDT 1058, MMDT 1142

This course is designed to give students the advanced skills they need to design a website. Students are instructed in advanced features of Dreamweaver, a website creation tool. Advanced topics covered include dynamically created pages using data obtained from a database, Dreamweaver extensions (Macromedia Exchange) and plug-ins. Students will construct a business web site. Students will be running their projects on an actual web server with PHP and MySQL installed. This course is based on the use of textbook study and hands-on structured labs assigned by the instructor. Prerequisites: MMDT 1021, MMDT 1022, MMDT 1144, MMDT 1146. Corequisite MMDT 1146

In this course students will design and write programs using PHP, a widely used programming language used to make dynamic websites and web applications. Students will write PHP programs to solve real world problems. PHP code will be written by hand and then debugged and managed using Macromedia Dreamweaver. Students will be running their projects on an actual web server with PHP and MySQL installed. This course is based on the use of textbook study and hands-on structured labs assigned by the instructor. Prerequisites: MMDT 1021, MMDT 1022, MMDT 1144

This course allows students to develop skills and create a 3-D world with an advanced 3-D software package, LightWave. Students will work with moving objects, backgrounds, learn to apply lighting and create animated scenes. Final projects will be rendered and composited to create an interactive product. Prerequisites: MMDT 1048

Students will explore problem-solving techniques using 3-D software, creating special effects animations in a 3-D environment. Focus will be on object creation, animation and lighting with projects developed for the web, for print, for video and multimedia use. Prerequisite: MMDT 1148
