WELD 1405: GTAW Aluminum

This course is designed to introduce students to the types, applications, and welding of aluminum using the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process. Topics covered will include aluminum alloys, shielding gases, aluminum applications, selection of filler metals and electrodes, and machine set up. The welds covered in this course will include fillet welds in the flat, horizontal, and vertical positions and groove welds in the flat position. The incoming student does not need to have any prior GTAW experience, but it is recommended. Prerequisite: None.
