This course is designed to give students a good foundation upon which they can build their artistic skills and further their creative aspirations. Prerequisites: None.

(Fulfills MNTC Areas: 2, 6) This course is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to utilize photography recreationally as well as serving as an introduction to those wishing to use photography to further their own artistic, scientific, or technical goals. In addition, students will have the opportunity to learn basic camera operation, the developing and printing of black and white film, and basic composition as it relates to artistic and narrative photography. Prerequisite: None.

(Fulfills MNTC Areas: 6, 8) This course provides an investigation of civilization and of the history of art from Pre-Historic through the Gothic period in both the East and West. The historic and symbolic natures of the works of art will be explored and the behavioral patterns and value systems of various cultures will be revealed through art and architecture. Prerequisite: None.

Students are exposed to more work of artists and guided through a wider variety of painting experiences and applications. Emphasis will be on personal areas of interest and portfolio establishment.
