C#.NET is a well-established programming language that is used for creating software applications on many kinds and sizes of computers. C was standardized by ANSI, the American National Standards Institute, in 1990. C++ builds upon the C language by adding object-oriented classes and methods. Students will enter code and create, test, and debug C#.NET programs. They will also write numerous short programs that demonstrate the abilities of the languages.

Students will learn how to create and run three common types of Java programs (applications, applets and servlets); how applications, applets, and servlets are similar and/or different; how to build a basic user interface that handles simple end-user input; how to read data from and write data to files and databases; and how to send and receive data over the network. This course takes students through the more common programming features available in the Java platform. They will submit their own design and implementation of Java programs for evaluation. Students should have some experience with other computer languages and be familiar with common programming concepts such as displaying text or graphics or performing simple calculations. Prerequisites: ITEC 1100, ITEC 1150, ITEC 1250 or approval or department chair; placement into READ 1300 or completion of READ 0200 or ESOL 0052; placement into MATH 0080 or completion of MATH 0070.
