3.00 Credits
3.00 credits (3.00 lec) This course explores non-radar separation in the en route ATC environment. Students will learn aircraft flight characteristics, navigational aids and airspace used in this unique training environment. They will also examine documentation procedures and the language of ATC, phraseology. Students will explore and begin to apply nonradar separation rules and procedures by participating in creative classroom exercises. Prerequisites: ATCT 2000, ATCT 2100, ATCT 2110 and ATCT 2130. Corequisite: ATCT 2120.
-
10.00 Credits
10 credits (3.00 lec/7.00 lab) This course covers advanced non-radar, radar and radar associate procedures in a simulated environment. Training will include separation of aircraft in departure, en route, arrival stages of flight, utilizing strip marking, phraseology, vectoring, traffic advisories, emergency procedures, instrument and visual approaches, handoffs, and point outs using the FAA's newest radar display equipment. Prerequisites: ATCT 2000, ATCT 2410 and ATCT 2420. Corequisite: ATCT 2440.
-
5.00 Credits
5.00 credits (2.00 lec/3.00 lab) This course will teach students the use of air traffic control flight data computers that are used in national airspace and the composition and format for processing critical flight data messages. They will also learn flight progress strip marking and communication, using the fundamental language of air traffic control. Prerequisites: ATCT 2120 and ATCT 2300. Corequisite: ATCT 2420.
-
3.00 Credits
3.00 credits (1.00 lec/2.00 lab) This course teaches ATC flight data computers and communication systems used in en route ATC facilities. Students will learn to compose and format messages for coordination and documentation of ATC clearances. They will develop an understanding of the actual computers and communication systems used in en route facilities today. Prerequisites: ATCT 2120 and ATCT 2310. Corequisites: ATCT 2425 and ATCT 2445.
-
4.00 Credits
4.00 credits (4.00 lab) This course covers non-radar procedures in a simulated environment. Training will include the vertical, lateral, and longitudinal separation of aircraft in the departure, en route, and arrival phases of flight, utilizing phraseology, strip marking, and minima prescribed in the FAAO 7110.65. Prerequisites: ATCT 2120 and ATCT 2300. Corequisite: ATCT 2410.
-
6.00 Credits
6.00 credits (2.00 lec/4.00 lab) This course teaches application of separation procedures in ATC and is divided into two parts, both taught primarily in a realistic simulation lab. In part one of this course students learn to apply non-radar separation and procedures. In part two, they will apply rules and procedures to separate aircraft using radar. Students will participate in hands-on simulated traffic scenarios. They will also develop effective communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills needed in ATC. Prerequisites: ATCT 2120 and ATCT 2310. Corequisites: ATCT 2415 and ATCT 2445.
-
2.00 Credits
2.00 credits (1.00 lec/1.00 lab) This course will cover advanced human factors as they relate to air traffic control. Students will learn to apply teamwork, communications skills, situational awareness, and workload management in classroom and air traffic control lab settings. This course applies theory and procedures taught in Human Factors 1. Prerequisite: ATCT 2200. Corequisite: ATCT 2400.
