This course will provide a three-day, intensive training institute in the Strategic Instruction Model® (SIM), developed by researchers and teachers at the Univeristy of Kansas Center for Research on Learning. This institute will introduce teachers to the foundations of SIM and the necessary instruction to implement the following research-based interventions to help students acquire the skills necessary to understand grade-level reading materials: a two-level reading strategy, a vocabulary strategy, and a two-level sentence writing strategy.
