This introduces students to the fundamentals of foundations, framing, roofing, insulation and wall layouts. Students will learn how to lay out a foundation, frame house walls and set engineered trusses. This course will concentrate on footings, foundation walls and wall forms. This course will also introduce students to soil types, bracing of forms that are utilized in different applications. This course will introduce students to framing methods utilized in the construction of a residential building. Students will learn to build different flooring systems, cut rafters, layout a stairway and build headers. Students will develop functional understanding of live and dead loads.     Prerequisite: None. This course provides the State required training for a student seeking a Michigan Residential Builders and Maintenance and Alterations Contractors License. This course meets the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth's required hours of prelicensure training for an individual seeking to sit for the State Exam. This course will provide students with training in the following areas: Business Management, Estimating and Job Costing, Design and Building Science, Contracts, Liabilities and Risk Management, Marketing and Sales, Project Management and Scheduling, Michigan Residential Building Code, Construction Safety Standards (MIOSHA) and energy efficient GREEN building practices. Students will receive a Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of each course module. [Semesters Offered: Variable]

    Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in INTE 140 or CADD 103 or Dean of Advanced Technologies approval. This course focuses on the proper use and understanding of the US Department of Energy s REScheck Energy Compliance Software to meet current Residential Energy Compliance requirements. Through theory and hands on exercises the student will use the REScheck software to determine energy compliance of new residential structures based on current energy conservation codes and local requirements using a variety of residential building plans. Required knowledge of residential building specifications and mathematics for proper REScheck software utilization will be covered. The Michigan Unified Energy Code (MUEC) and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) will also be discussed, as well as the history of the Michigan Energy Code and the U.S. Department of Energy.     Prerequisite: None. Salsa, a Latin American dance, started in New York somewhere between the 1940's and the 1970's. The dance steps currently being danced on salsa music originate from the Cuban son, but has influences from many other Cuban dances. Students will learn the basic steps and special moves for Salsa.

    Prerequisite: None. In this course, students will learn hip hop dance styles and movement used in the video and entertainment industry. The course will include a look at the origins, cultural significance, and development of the hip hop dance style. Practical exercises will focus on hip hop dance style and movement, rhythm, isolation, flexibility, movement style, showmanship and self expression.
