Topics include communication, difficult situations, customer diversity, stress management, time management, customer loyalty, service breakdowns, and the future of the profession. Prerequisite: BA 117.

5 credits quarters: F A computerized approach to accounting systems (service and merchandising), accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, and inventory. Recommended: ACCT& 201 is required. ACCT& 202 and BA 137 are recommended.

5 credits quarters: F Covers marketing and business activities concerned with the planning of product, place, promotion, and distribution of goods and services. Fundamental principles and business cases are combined so that the students may understand more clearly the functioning of marketing in our economy and the movement of goods and services from the producer to the consumer. Prerequisite: YVCC placement into READ 101 or permission of instructor. Common Course Numbers include the symbol (&) and are used at all Washington community and technical colleges to identify equivalent courses. Quarters listed are for the 2008-2009 year only, and all courses are subject to change.

5 credits quarters: S The principles and practices of retailing will be discussed. Special topics covered will include types of retail outlets, franchising, policies, store location, layout, organization, buying and selling functions, profit planning, staffing and controlling.

5 credits quarters: F Modern management theory and practice are emphasized. Topics include contemporary management roles and responsibilities, including goal-setting, planning, organizing, directing, staffing, delegating, motivating, controlling, and evaluating.
