Topics covered include distance vector and link state based IP routing algorithms. Router administration topics covered will include configuration files, router interfaces, routing tables, routing protocol configuration, routing concepts, router IOS commands, access lists, router configuration, and network security concepts. This course emphasizes hands on networking skills as well as networking principles and concepts. Effective Jan 1, 2009 View History Description: This course covers the intermediate concepts of routing and switching including RIPv2, EIGRP, OSPF, VLSM, CIDR, VLANs, network congestion issues, VTP, and Spanning Tree protocol. It also covers the various Wide Area Network services including Frame Relay, ISDN, HDLC, PPP, DDR. The course includes hands on experience using routers and switches and additional theory leading to a more detailed understanding of routing, switching and Wide Area Networks. Effective Jan 1, 2009 View History Description: Students learn writing, presentation, and critical-thinking skills within the context of the Telecommunications, Multimedia, and Applied Computing (TMAC) major. Research and project topics stem from knowledge of the TMAC design and technology curriculum. Students learn how to analyze, predict, and articulate trends in the academic, public service, and private enterprise fields of the TMAC industry. Students write two major papers and give a combination oral/multimedia presentation before both a small and large audience. (Offered every semester.)
