Prerequisite: Approved admission level or completion of MAT 0096 with a grade of "S" equivalent to a minimum average score of 70% or better in coursework Introduces pre-algebra concepts and operations, which will be applied to the study of beginning algebra. Topics include: number theory, arithmetic review, signed numbers, algebraic operations, equations, factoring, and introduction to algebra word problems. Homework assignments reinforce classroom learning. Computer and Internet technology are an integral part of this course.

Topics include: operations with algebraic expressions; linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, and functions; graphing techniques; rational expressions and equations; exponents, radicals, and complex numbers; and simultaneous equations. Computer and Internet technology are an integral part of this course.

Topics include: basic mathematical skills, mathematical skills in business-related problem solving, mathematical information for documents, graphs, and mathematical problems using electronic calculators (not to include the touch method).

Prerequisite: Approved admission level math score or completion of MAT 0097 with a grade of "S" or minimum grade of "C?mphasizes the application of basic mathematical skills used in the solution of occupational and technical problems. Topics include: fractions, decimals, percents, ratios and proportions, measurement and conversion, formula manipulation, technical applications, and basic statistics.

Course content emphasizes: basic mathematical concepts; basic algebraic concepts; and intermediate algebraic concepts. Class includes lecture, applications, and homework to reinforce learning.

Topics include: fundamental operations of Algebra, sets and logic, probability and statistics, Geometry, Mathematics of voting and districting, and Mathematics of finance.

Prerequisites: Degree program admission level math competency or MAT 0099 with a grade of "S" or minimum grade of " C" and appropriate exit test scoreThis course is designed as an alternative to College Algebra for those students who will not take Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, or Calculus. It is an applications-driven course that introduces functions using real-world phenomena as models. Topics include: fundamental concepts of algebra; functions and graphs; linear, quadratic, polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions and models of real-world phenomena; systems of equations; and additional topics in algebra.

The appropriate "exit" examination score can be either of the following: (1) The student completes MAT 0099 with an "S" or minimum grade of "C" AND scores "37" or higher on the COMPASS Algebra exit e xam ination; OR The student obtains transfer credit f or M AT 0099 AND scores "37" or higher on the Compass Algebra exit ex amination; OR scores a "37" or higher on the COMPASS AlgebThis course emphasizes techniques of problem solving using algebraic concepts. Topics include: fundamental concepts of algebra; equations and inequalities; functions and graphs; systems of equations; optional topics including sequences, series, and probability; and analytic geometry.

Prerequisite: MAT 1111 with a minimum grade of "C" This course prepares students for Calculus. The topics discussed include an intensive study of polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and their graphs. Applications include simple maximum and minimum problems, exponential growth and decay.
