The course will include clinical hours to be spent in both Hospital Emergency Departments and on Ambulance Clinical Rotations. This class will also contain a Comprehensive review of the US DOT EMT-Basic 1994 Curriculum as well as the US DOT EMT-Intermediate 1985 Curriculum. The course will include a comprehensive written and practical exam that will serve to verify the students' competencies before being allowed to sit for the National Registry Intermediate-1985 Exam. Topics will include review of both the EMT-B 1994 and EMT-I 1985 Curricula, Assessment/Management Review for Trauma & Medical & OB/Peds and a NREMT examination review.

Utilizing this foundation, specific disease processes covered include, but not limited to, bronchial asthma; chronic bronchitis; emphysema; spontaneous pneumothorax; hyperventilation syndrome; adult respiratory distress syndrome; pulmonary thrombosis/embolism/edema; neoplasm; pneumonia and other respiratory infections. Targeted skill set instruction involves the use of airway adjunctive equipment, procedures, and therapeutic modalities.

Epidemiology, detailed anatomy and physiology, physical assessment and management techniques relative to all types of trauma are covered as well as trauma systems, mechanism of injury, hemorrhage and shock. In addition, the specific pathophysiologies associated with burns, soft tissue, head, facial, spinal, thoracic, abdominal, and musculoskeletal trauma is studied.
