Introduces the elements of legal terminology. Emphasis is placed on building familiarity with legal words that apply to the court system, contracts, family law, real estate, litigation, wills/probate, bankruptcy, and general legal terms.

Topics include: application of Electronic Mail, the Internet, Worldwide Web, Gopher Servers, and Graphic Presentation.

Prerequisites: Program Admission, BUS 101 with a minimum grade of "C" Emphasizes intensive use of desktop publishing software to create publications such as letterheads, resumes, fliers, brochures, reports, newsletters, and business cards. Topics include: traditional printing process layout and design, electronic page assembly, text and graphics integration, and laser printing.

Prerequisites: BUS 108 and ENG 1010 with a minimum grade of "C" Provides instruction in advanced word processing. Topics include: advanced word processing concepts and applications, and proofreading.

Prerequisites: SCT 100 and MAT 1011 with a minimum grade of "C" Provides instruction in spreadsheet applications. Students become proficient in creating and modifying spreadsheets and in printing files. Topics include: spreadsheet fundamentals, data entry, modification, computation using functions/formulas, charts and graphs, and printing.

Prerequisites: Completion of all non-elective courses with GPA of 2.0 or better Provides work experience in a professional environment. Topics include: applying classroom knowledge and skills, working cooperatively with co-workers and management, and listening and following directions. Students will be under the supervision of the Business Office Technology program faculty and/or persons designated to coordinate work experience arrangements.

Prerequisite: MAT 1011 with a minimum grade of "C" Introduces fundamental concepts of accounting. Topics include: accounting equation, debits, credits, and journalizing; posting and proving ledger; accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll. Both manual and computerized concepts are taught.

Prerequisites: BUS 102 and ENG 1010 with a minimum grade of "C" Prerequisite/Corequisite: BUS 158 Introduces office procedures practiced by the legal secretary. Topics include: preparation of legal documents and correspondence, ethics, and legal office procedures. Specific topics covered include legal office duties, the courts and court documents, litigation, criminal law, wills, probate, real estate, corporations, family law, and non-court documents.

Prerequisites: BUS 217 and ENG 1012 with a minimum grade of "C" A continuation of office procedures practiced by the legal secretary. Topics include: legal terminology, transcription, preparation of legal documents and correspondence, client billing and files management, ethics, and legal office procedures. Specific topics covered include legal office procedures, the courts and court documents, litigation, criminal law, wills, probate, real estate, corporations, family law, and non-court documents.
