This course focuses on theory and standards important to the practice of massage therapy. Students will understand the impact of ethical decision-making on the profession and legal issues that can arise from unprofessional behavior, including written and verbal communication, social media behavior, and client-relationships. In addition, the course will introduce students to the important aspects of marketing to increase client acquisition and retention. The course will provide students with knowledge of business concepts and applications, including types of business entities, tax responsibilities, and financial decision-making.

This course exposes students to various supplemental therapies available in the field of massage therapy and covers the fundamentals of these modalities. Covered modalities may include but are not limited to cupping, hot stone, manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), and reflexology.

This course will introduce the student to the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system. Students will begin the course with a detailed experience navigating the body identifying bones, bony landmarks, and "trails" as described by the textbook materials. The course will then focus on muscle origin, insertion, and action of the entire body. Focus is given to learning and palpating muscles while identifying muscle attachments, action as prime, synergist, and antagonist movers.

This course provides exposure and experience in applying Massage Therapy principles, protocols and techniques in a professional MT setting.

2.00 Credits
This course is a study of pathological changes occurring in the human body's cells, tissues, and organs that cause or are caused by disease mechanisms. Massage Therapy (MT) students receive a foundation in the disease processes, identification of signs and symptoms of diseases, as well as medical terminology commonly seen in the field. The course also covers massage therapy considerations; indications and contraindications for treatment and proper protocol for client education and diagnosis referrals.

This course focuses on methods, processes, and strategies used to solve mathematical problems in a wide variety of contexts. It demonstrates the uses and structure of mathematics while developing diverse ways to approach both mathematical and non-mathematical problems. Specific topics to be covered are number sequences and patterns, geometry and unit measurements, consumer math, counting principles, probability, and basic statistics.

This course is designed to prepare students to efficiently utilize graphing calculators in mathematics courses. Use of the graphical and computational power of a graphing calculator is emphasized.

This course introduces finite mathematics to majors not requiring Calculus. Topics include set theory, logic, linear equations, matrix algebra, Gaussian elimination, counting techniques, probability, and statistics. (3 lect hrs/week)

This course prepares prospective elementary school teachers to be competent in teaching the major concepts and practical skills related to the real number system with the four arithmetic operations. Special emphasis is placed on teaching in the context of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Standards. Activities involving math manipulatives will be performed in order to reinforce content. Students will also observe math lessons being taught in elementary school classrooms. This course does not satisfy the mathematics requirement at NWCCD or UW.

This course is a continuation of MATH 1100 Numbers and Operations for Elementary School Teachers and is for prospective elementary school teachers. Its primary focus is on the process of solving various problems through the use of algebra, the Fundamental Counting Principle, probability, and data analysis, and to prepare students to be competent in teaching these major concepts. Emphasis continues to be placed on the development of problem solving skills and teaching in the context of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Standards.
