Political, social and economic history of the United States from 1877 to the present. Emphasis will be placed on the expansion of government services, regulatory policy, and the quest for equality. Continuing emphasis will be placed on the themes of industrialization and the activities of government in expanding identity, legitimacy, and participation, extension of government services, and distribution of wealth.
