3.00 Credits
Utilizing knowledge of anatomy and physiology, students will learn about general medical conditions that may be seen in clinical practice. Students will be expected to refine their examination skills and didactic knowledge of general medical conditions to recognize signs and symptoms, and to appropriately manage these conditions, including return to participation guidelines, and to refer to a more advanced medical provider. The refinement of these skills requires a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics as this information will be used throughout the course and in clinical practice. Prerequisites: "C" or better in (ATSM 3403 AND ATSM 3490).

2.00 Credits
This course will focus on referral, recognition, and management of psychological conditions or states that effect clients/athletes in the athletic training clinical setting. Prerequisites: "C" or better in (ATSM 3404 AND ATSM 4010).

1.00 - 6.00 Credits
This is a clinical internship. In general, this course is for students with an advanced understanding of the athletic training field and sports medicine. Students will work with an Athletic Training faculty or staff member to create the internship experience. Prerequisites: Instructor Consent.

2.00 Credits
This course will provide students with an understanding of the history, roles and responsibilities, and current state of the Athletic Training Profession. The course will also focus on the need to practice within a broader healthcare community and how athletic trainers can work collaboratively with other healthcare providers and refer clients/patients when such referral is warranted.

4.00 Credits
This course will provide an overview of tissue injury and the associated inflammatory response and healing processes that follow injury to musculoskeletal tissue. Clinical examination skills will be reinforced as theory, application and clinical decision-making processes using therapeutic modalities during rehabilitation are discussed. Documentation of treatments and maintenance of therapeutic modality equipment will also be addressed. Prerequisites: "C" or better in (BIOL 2325 AND ATSM 3300 AND ATSM 3310) AND Full Major status in Athletic Training.

4.00 Credits
Utilizing knowledge of anatomy and physiology, students will be introduced to prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation techniques for the head, spine, and upper extremity. Evidence based medicine will be used to research injuries and sport related problems related to this region. This is an upper-division course designed for athletic training majors. Prerequisites: "C" or better in (ATSM 3400 AND ATSM 3401 AND ATSM 3420 AND ATSM 3430).

4.00 Credits
Utilizing knowledge of anatomy and physiology, this course will educate the athletic training student on rehabilitative techniques targeted at improving aerobic fitness, flexibility and joint mobility, improving strength and coordination, and pain management. Students will apply evidence-based knowledge in the context of clinical scenarios to develop custom programs and determine patient response for a range of patients with respect to age, overall health, and desired level of activity. Prerequisites: "C" or better in (ATSM 3400 AND ATSM 3401 AND ATSM 3420 AND ATSM 3430).

This course will focus on an understanding of risk management, health care delivery mechanisms, insurance, reimbursement, documentation, patient privacy, and facility management for the Athletic Trainer. Prerequisites: "C" or better in (ATSM 3402 AND ATSM 3470 AND ATSM 3480).

2.00 Credits
This course will educate the athletic training student on evidence-based practice within the realm of athletic training and other topics related to research in sports medicine. This course will also provide an introduction to locating, reading, and critiquing research and writing scientifically. Further, the student will be exposed to the sports medicine research lab and the research instrumentation within this lab. Prerequisites: "C" or better in (ATSM 3403 AND ATSM 3490).

2.00 Credits
This course will apply evidence based practice principles in clinical practice settings. Critical analysis of the levels of evidence supporting selected clinical interventions will be a major component of the course. This course will explore current advanced manual therapy skills in relation to evidence based practice literature. Further, the students will gain exposure to varied methods for generating evidence relevant to clinical practice. Prerequisites: "C" or better in (ATSM 3404 AND ATSM 4010).
