This course broadly overviews a conceptual understanding of the behavioral, physiological, and societal impact that a variety of drugs cause when used and abused. An overview of the history and current status of societal responses to psychoactive drug use and abuse, including legal regulations, treatment, and prevention efforts will also be introduced. This course will be useful to students in the areas of law enforcement, health care, education, and public service.

This course serves as an introduction to basic athletic training procedures with specific focus on therapeutic and preventative taping and bandaging techniques used in the field of atheletic training. Through practical experience in the field and weekly lecture experiences, the completion of this class will prepare students for future enrollment in PHED 56. PHED 56 may be taken concurrently with PHED 56 or separately.

This course includes water safety practices for home, ponds, beaches, and public swimming facilities, proper swim instruction techniques for all ages and abilities, and development of new swimming strokes and skills. Upon completion, students will be certified in standard first aid, adult CPR and life guarding. Prerequisite: Advanced swimming skills.

A composite overview to basic athletic training procedures with specific focus on the identification of injuries related to physical activity; therapeutic, rehabilitative, and preventative techniques will be utilized as treatment options. Students will be introduced to the professional development and responsibilities that the licensed athletic trainer holds. Practical lab experience and lecture will be the format of this course.

Designed for pre-medical and pre-dental students and students of architecture and education. Study of elements of mechanics, mechanics of fluids, properties of matter, and heat.
