0.00 - 3.00 Credits
Prerequisite: Texas Success Initiative complete in Math (B or better in Math 0301 or scores between 230 and 249 on THEA or equivalent on an approved alternate math assessment test). This course is designed to prepare students for college level mathematics courses. Topics include the real number system, fundamental algebraic operations, graphs, linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, systems of equations, exponents, radicals, and word problems. This course does not count toward graduation from The Victoria College. General Prerequisites for the following math courses: Except as otherwise noted, a score of 250 or higher on the mathematics section of the assessment test, or at least a C in Math 0303, is required for all college level math courses.
-
0.00 - 3.00 Credits
Prerequisite: If a student takes a Victoria College math course as a prerequisite for another math course, but fails to make a grade of C or better, the student cannot then count course work taken in high school as the prerequisite. A study of fundamental concepts of algebra, equations and inequalities; matrices and determinants, functions, exponential and logarithmic functions.
-
0.00 - 3.00 Credits
Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in either MATH 1314 or high school Algebra II. Topics include the trigonometry of right triangles, circular functions, graphing, identities, equations, inverse functions, oblique triangles, complex numbers, vectors, polar coordinates and logarithms.
-
0.00 - 3.00 Credits
Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in either MATH 1314 or high school Algebra II. Topics from finite mathematics including sets, probability, binomial distribution, exponents, linear programming, vectors and matrices, linear models.
-
0.00 - 3.00 Credits
Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in one of the following: MATH 1314 or MATH 1324 or high school Algebra II. Topics in continuous mathematics including sets, functions and relations, topics from analytic geometry; limits, continuity, maxima and minima; simple derivatives and integrals as applied in business or the social sciences.
-
0.00 - 3.00 Credits
Prerequisite: Texas Success Initiative complete in Math or a grade of "B" or higher in MATH 0301. Topics include modern algebra and geometry and may include sets, logic, number systems, number theory, functions, equivalence, congruence, measurement, other geometric concepts, and the introduction to probability and statistics.
-
0.00 - 3.00 Credits
Prerequisite: Texas Success Initiative complete in Math or a grade of "B" or higher in MATH 0301. Collection and tabulation of data, bar charts, graphs, sampling, averages, dispersion, correlation, normal curve, probability, applications to various fields. A knowledge of basic algebra is recommended.
-
0.00 - 3.00 Credits
Prerequisite: MATH 1314 with a grade of C or better Topics include sets, functions, numeration systems, number theory, properties of the natural numbers and the real number system with an emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking. This course is designed specifically for students who seek middle grade (4-8) teacher certification.
-
0.00 - 3.00 Credits
Prerequisite: MATH 1314 with a grade of C or better Topics include geometry, probability and statistics, as well as applications of the algebraic properties of real numbers to concepts of measurement with an emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking. This course is designed specifically for students who seek middle grade (4-8) teacher certification.
-
0.00 - 3.00 Credits
Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in either MATH 1316 or high school trigonometry. Applications of algebra and trigonometry to the study of elementary functions and their graphs including polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric functions, and polar coordinates.
