Prerequisite: ITSC 1425 or consent of instructor. Designing, planning, implementing, operating, and troubleshooting wireless LANs (WLANs). Includes WLAN design, installation, and configuration; and WLAN security issues and vendor interoperability strategies.

Prerequisite: ITSC 1425 or consent of instructor. Topics include network components, user accounts and groups, network file systems, file systems security, and network printing.

Prerequisites: ITNW 2415 or CCNA and ITSY 2300 or consent of instructor. Troubleshoot and support networks with emphasis on solving real world problems in a hands-on environment. Topics include troubleshooting and research techniques, available resources, and network management hard/software.

A study of personal computer operating systems. Topics include installation and configuration, file management, memory and storage management, control of peripheral devices, and use of utilities.

Prerequisite: Familiarity with the PC Note: No credit given if student has already taken COSC 1301 or BCIS 1305 Integration of applications from popular business productivity software suites. Instruction in embedding data, linking and combining documents using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and/or presentation media software. A student may receive credit by passing a departmental exam for this course.

Prerequisite: Texas Success Initiative complete in Reading and Math or consent of instructor. A study of current personal computer hardware including personal computer assembly and upgrading, setup and configuration, and troubleshooting. Also a study of personal computer operating systems. Topics include installation and configuration, file management, memory and storage management, control of peripheral devices and use of utilities. A student may receive credit for this course by passing the CompTIA A+ exams.

Prerequisite: Texas Success Initiative complete in Reading or consent of instructor Basic UNIX workstation administration tasks. Includes installing a standalone system, adding users, backing up and restoring file systems, and adding new printer support. Emphasis on the procedures needed to perform these system administration tasks. Introduces the concept of the system and disk management.

Prerequisite: COSC 1315 and IMED 1316 or consent of instructor Techniques for web development. Includes server-side and client-side scripting.

Prerequisite: Texas Success Initiative complete in Reading and COSC 1301 or BCIS 1305 or ITSC 1309 or ITSC 1305 (ITSC 1321) AND ability to type 30 wpm. An overview of the production of documents, tables, and graphics. Includes word processing concepts and features designed to acquaint the student with the various facets of the software. A student may receive credit for this course by passing a departmental exam.

Prerequisite: Texas Success Initiative complete in Reading and COSC 1301 or BCIS 1305 or ITSC 1309 or ITSC 1305 (ITSC 1321) Instruction in the concepts, procedures, and application of electronic spreadsheets. The student will identify spreadsheet terminology and concepts; create formulas and functions; use formatting features; and generate charts, graphs, and reports.
