FIRS 1433: Firefighter Certification VII Credit

Prerequisites: FIRS 1401, 1407 and 1413 One in a series of courses in basic preparation for a new firefighter. Should be taken in conjunction with Firefighter Certification I, II, III, IV, V, and VI to satisfy the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) curriculum for Basic Structural Fire Suppression, Course #100. An in-depth study and practice of simulated emergency operations and hands-on live fire training exercises, incident command procedures, and combined operations using proper extinguishing methods. The student will describe the general requirements of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards applicable to live fire; extinguish or control live fires while using hose streams and portable extinguishers safely and effectively; and operate within a command structure utilized by all participants. Emphasis on safety.
