This is the first part of a hands-on. Earth Science course designed for education majors enrolled in the EC-8 program. This is upper division geology course designed for environmental science majors. Plate Tectonic processes of past and present will be discussed in detail with an emphasis on their effects on the earth's environment. Student learns about large scale dynamics of the earth's surface that involve growth and shrinkage of oceans, drift of continents, growth and evolution of mountain belts, etc. Findings of recent plate tectonics research projects will be incorporated into lectures.
