This course places students in the middle grades classroom settings as a practicing teacher to demonstrate competencies. The student teacher will have the opportunity to design and implement instruction, and practice classroom management techniques. Weekly seminars and individual conferences are required. Students will be assigned a full-semester, all day, Monday thru Friday placement. Lec 1, Cr 6

Majo r theories of the teaching-learning process and human growth and development as they relate to the secondary student will be addressed. This course provides an introduction to basic choral literature for intermediate and secondary school choirs, small ensemble literature, solo vocal repertoire: jazz/show choir choreography, concert programming, sight reading methods, and texts. It also surveys the rules, regulations and competitions of the University Interscholastic League and the Texas Choral Directors Association. Lec 3, Cr 3

3.00 Credits
This course allows students to synthesize learning, the code of ethics, history and philosophy of education and legal issues in education. Emphasis is also given to classroom management and motivation. This course will also focus on characteristics and assessment requirements of students with special needs in an inclusive setting. Current issues dealing with the assessment of diverse learners will be addressed. A minimum of six hours of field experience per week is required. Lec 3, Cr 3.
