This course is designed to introduce the veterinary technician student to the theoretical principles and practical applications of local and systemic anesthesiology. Mechanical configurations of anesthetic devices, their functions, and operational limitations are learned. Care and maintenance of anesthetic medications and equipment are covered. Pre-operative exams, assessments and hematology/biomedical profiles along with the kinetics of the hematopoietic system are discussed. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 203, VETE 204.

The continuation of Anesthesiology I, this course builds upon the content and applications necessary to regulate airway management and succeed in the anesthetic processes of induction, maintenance, and emergence. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 2221.

This introductory course to surgical nursing covers surgical instruments, package prep, patient prep, anesthesia, monitoring, and post-op care. It provides a foundation of practical information that the veterinary technician must know in order to assist during surgeries of domestic species. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 203, VETE 204.

Specifically, the course is a continuation of VETE 2224 and covers the principles and practice of asepsis; the most efficient layout and working of the surgical area; the principles of surgery, particularly those related to wound healing; and the surgical procedures that are most commonly employed by the veterinary technician during small animal surgery and surgical emergencies. This course also focuses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 2221, VETE 2222, VETE 2224

This course is a continuation of the applications presented in VETE 2206. It is designed to provide students with the skills and competency in companion animals to administer fluid and oxygen therapies, support pediatrics and geriatrics, perform dental prophylaxis, and other preventative practices. Pre-requisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 2103, VETE 2204, VETE 2206.

This course focuses on the aggregate or overall economy. Topics include the description and measurement of economic aggregates; the basic theories of output, employment and prices; the monetary economy and the role of government.

This course is a study of the technical clinical aspects of laboratory animal care, including restraint and handling, common diseases, and nutrition of common laboratory species. Pre-requisite: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program.

This course is designed to acquaint the student with the fundamentals of avian and exotic pet husbandry, physiology, management, and medicine. This course includes the following vertebrate groups as lecture topics: reptiles, birds and exotic mammals. Prerequisites: Erollment in the Veterinary Technology Program.

This course is a continuation of VETE 3409. It is designed to increase the level of student proficiency with the fundamentals of large animal husbandry, herd health management, preventive medicine, animal restraint and nutrition as it relates to the bovine, equine, porcine, and caprine species. Prerequisites: Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program, VETE 3207, VETE 3409.
