This is a Local Need Course. This course is a study of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and insulation systems used in residential buildings today. The student will identify and describe the major components of a heating and air conditioning system as well as the methods used in the design, planning, and installation of residential systems. This is a Local Need Course. Covers the theory of projection, architectural symbols, relationship of views and measurements, plan and elevation views, including sections and details. The student will describe and read specifications as they are used with residential construction blueprints, including scope, quality, and the methods used in building a residential building. Drawings are used to find, size, shape, and location of residential building components. (3 Lec.)

This is a Local Need Course. Designed to train the construction worker in the preparation of cost estimates for residential structures. Topics include mathematics, construction techniques, estimating cycle, data sources and use, checklists, and detailed unit quantity estimating methods. Emphasis will be on establishing residential material requirements. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

This is a Local Need Course. This course overviews the duties and responsibilities of field engineering for commercial and industrial building construction. The use of surveying equipment, sketches and proper field notes taking, methods of staking and layout of building site, locating center lines of piers and installation of batter boards. Lab required. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)

This is a WECM Course Number. This course continues the study of construction materials, methods, and equipment using the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Masterformat. Topics covered include finishes, specialties, equipment, furnishing, special construction with an introduction to conveying, mechanical, electrical systems. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (2 Lec., 2 Lab.)

This is a WECM Course Number. This course will concentrate on the organization and preparation of written construction documents. Emphasis will be placed on further developing concepts covered in Principles of Purchasing (BMGT 1313), as well as studying the development and application of master specifications, preliminary project descriptions, outline specifications, and both full, and abbreviated construction documents. Computer applications and automated editing procedures will also be demonstrated and applied. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (3 Lec.)
