Principles of electricity including proper use of test equipment, A/C and D/C circuits, and component theory and operation. The student will exhibit knowledge of basic principles of electricity, electrical current, circuitry, and A/C devices; apply Ohm's law to electrical calculations; perform electrical continuity, voltage, and current tests with appropriate meters; and demonstrate electrical safety. A study of the fundamentals of direct current including Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's laws and circuit analysis techniques. Emphasis on circuit analysis of resistive networks and DC measurements. Emphasis on circuit construction, measurements, and analysis. This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite: CETT 1429. Digital Systems is a course in electronics covering digital systems. Emphasis on application and troubleshooting digital systems using counters, registers, code converters, multiplexers, analog-to-digital circuits, digital-to-analog circuits, and large-scale integrated circuits. The student will evaluate the operation of digital systems while operating in correct and fault mode using various test instruments; describe the difference between a digital system and an analog system; and draw a simple block diagram of a digital computer system.
