ARTS 381: Digital Photography I

An introduction to taking pictures with digital cameras and processing them with Adobe Photoshop. Assignments encourage visual awareness, technique comprehension, and an essential understanding of picture making in the context of photography's continuing history. Space in studio class is limited. Registration does not guarantee a place in class. The class roster is formulated on the first day of class by the individual instructor.

Required seminar for senior Visual and Dramatic Arts studio track majors. This course is designed to guide the senior VADA major through the development of a coherent and professional body of work, and prepare their work for the annual senior art exhibition held each year during commencement week. This course will meet twice a week at the designated time and place. Attendance is required. Classes will consist of lectures, visits and critiques by professional artists and curators, and studio work time in preparation for the final exhibition. Prerequisites: Students must receive permission from their faculty advisor or department chair to register for this class; only Visual and Dramatic Arts majors who have senior academic standing will be allowed to register for this course.
