(2-4) 4 hours Introduction to the principles of drafting to include terminology and fundamentals, including size and shape descriptions, projection methods, geometric construction, sections, auxiliary views, and reproduction processes. (SCANS 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8) Prerequisite: None.

4 hours An introduction to computer-aided drafting. Emphasis is placed on setup; creating and modifying geometry; storing and retrieving predefined shapes; placing, rotating, and scaling objects, adding text and dimensions, using layers, coordinate systems, and plot/print to scale. Lab fee required. (SCANS 1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10) Prerequisite: None.

(2-4) 4 hours Architectural drafting procedures, practices, and symbols, including preparation of detailed working drawings for residential structure with emphasis on light frame construction methods. This course is the capstone course for the Architectural Detailer Certificate. Lab fee required. (SCANS 1, 2, 3, 8) Prerequisites: DFTG 1405 and DFTG 1409.

(2-4) 4 hours Detail drawings with proper dimensioning and tolerances, use of sectioning techniques, common fasteners, pictorial drawings, including bill of material. This course is the capstone course for the Machine Drafting Detailer Certificate. Lab fee required. (SCANS 1, 3, 5, 8, 9) Prerequisites: DFTG 1405 and DFTG 1409.

(1-20) 3 hours Career-related activities encountered in the student's area of specialization offered through an individualized agreement among the college, employer, and student. Under the supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Includes a lecture component. (SCANS 5, 7, 9, 10, 11) Prerequisite: Consent of department chair.

(2-4) 4 hours Production of detail and assembly drawings of machines, threads, gears, cams, tolerances and limit dimensioning, surface finishes, and precision drawings. Lab fee required. (SCANS 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9) Prerequisite: DFTG 1433.

(2-4) 4 hours Discussion of detail drawing of structural shapes for fabrication with emphasis on framed and seated connectors and beam and column detailing. Designed to meet the standards of American Institute of Steel Construction, including units on concrete detailing conforming to American Concrete Institute standards. Offered spring semester odd numbered years. This course is the capstone course for the Structural Drafting Detailer Certificate. Lab fee required. (SCANS 1, 3, 6, 9) Prerequisites: DFTG 1405 and DFTG 1409.

4 hours Topics include pictorial drawing including isometrics, obliques, perspectives, charts, and graphs; shading and transfer lettering. Emphasis will be placed on rendering and use of different media. Students will identify the processes used in technical illustration and produce pictorial drawings for use in technical presentation. Lab fee required. SCANS (1, 8, 9) Prerequisite: DFTG 2440.

(2-4) 4 hours A continuation of practices and techniques used in basic computer-aided drafting emphasizing advanced dimensioning techniques, the development and use of prototype drawings, construction of pictorial drawings, construction of 3-dimensional drawings, interfacing 2d and 3d environments and extracting data. Lab fee required. (SCANS 2, 6, 8, 9) Prerequisites: DFTG 1409 and DFTG 1405.

(2-4) 4 hours A study of pipe fittings, symbols, specifications and their applications to a piping process system. Creation of symbols and their usage in flow diagrams, plans, elevations, and isometrics. Offered spring semester even numbered years. This course is the capstone course for the Pipe Drafting Detailer Certificate. Lab fee required. (SCANS 1, 3, 6, 8, 9) Prerequisites: DFTG 1405 and DFTG 1409.
