Continued study of current computer terminology and technology. Advanced skill development in computer hardware, software applications, (Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Access), and procedures. Prerequisite: POFI 1301.

Instruction in the various aspects of a word processing software package (Microsoft Word). Emphasis on the use of text editing features to produce business documents. Prerequisite: POFT 1329, POFI 1301, or COSC 1401.

In-depth coverage of desktop publishing terminology, text editing, and use of design principles to create publishing material using word processing (Microsoft Word) desktop publishing features. Emphasis on layout techniques, graphics, and multiple page displays. Prerequisite: POFI 2401 or equivalent.

Study of the administrative duties of support personnel in a law office, including issues involved in understanding and using social, organizational, and technological systems. Prerequisite: POFL 1305 and POFI 2401 or equivalent.

An introduction to legal terminology, including spelling, pronunciation, and definition of legal terms and an overview of the law and the professions.

Presentation and application of basic coding rules, principles, guidelines, and conventions utilizing various coding systems. Prerequisite: HITT 1305, HPRS 2301, basic keyboarding and computer skills.

Instruction in medical office procedures, including appointment scheduling, medical records creation and maintenance, telephone communications, coding, billing, collecting, and third party reimbursement. Prerequisite: HITT 1305 and POFI 2401 or equivalent.

Skill development in keyboarding with emphasis on alphabet, number, and symbol keys with improved accuracy and speed, utilizing software and a microcomputer.

Introduction to a practical application of basic language usage skills with emphasis on fundamentals of writing and editing for business. Topics include an introduction to e-mail, fax, memo, and letter formatting, as well as effective interpersonal skills.
