This is a WECM Course Number. This course will provide an overview of the role of the nurse in working with dying client, families or caregivers of dying clients. This course is also intended to help the student understand the nature of death and dying as well as enable the student to come to grips with one's own personal feelings about death. It therefore has a cognitive as well as an affective component. To that end, while a majority of class time will be spent dealing with the "academics" of death, the course will also allow for a lot of time for an open discussion/sharing of feelings and experiences.
