    This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is the first semester of academic transfer Vietnamese. This course is an introductory course intended for students with little or no knowledge of the language. Its aim is to present essential vocabulary and grammar, and to develop the pronunciation, listening, reading, and writing skills necessary for basic communication and comprehension. Customs and cultural insights are also presented. This course is cross-listed as VIET 1311, which is also used in Study Abroad programs.     This is a WECM Course Number. Introduction to the nursing profession including history, standards of practice, legal and ethical issues, and role of the vocational nurse. Topics include mental health, therapeutic communication, cultural and spiritual diversity, nursing process, and holistic awareness. (2 Lec.)

    This is a WECM Course Number. General principles of medication administration including determination of dosage, preparation, safe administration, and documentation of multiple forms of drugs. Instruction includes various systems of measurement. (2 Lec.)

A study of the biological, psychological and sociological concepts applicable to basic needs of the family including childbearing and neonatal care. Topics include physiological changes related to pregnancy, fetal development, and nursing care of the family during labor and delivery and the puerperium. (3 Lec.)
