Emphasis on the physical transportation systems involved in the United States as well as on global distribution systems. Topics include carrier responsibilities and services, freight classifications, rates, tariffs, and public policy and regulations. Also includes logistical geography and the development of skills to solve logistical transportation problems and issues. (3 Lec.)

Includes warehouse operations management, hardware and software operations, bar codes, organizational effectiveness, just-in-time manufacturing, continuous replenishment, and third party. This course is cross-listed as LMGT 1325. The student may register for either LMGT 1425 or LMGT 1325, but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)

Includes training in rate negotiation, carrier and mode selection, carrier service evaluation, quality control, traffic pattern analysis, documentation for domestic and international shipments, claims, hazardous materials movement, and the state, federal, and international environments of transportation.
